Benjamin F. Rogers lived in Ebensburg, Cambria, Pennsylvania, United StatesO, in 1850.1 In 1860 Benjamin was a labourer.3 He lived in Ebensburg, Cambria, Pennsylvania, United StatesO, in 1860.3 He served in the military during the Civil War, Co. B, 8th Regiment PA Infantry & 187th Infantry Co. K Wounded in action and a prisoner of war in 1861 in Pennsylvania, United StatesO. In 1861 Benjamin Rogers joined the 8th Regiment Company B and was sent to Camp Curtin, Harriburg, Pennsylvania where they drilled for two days before being order to Chambersburg. Here they were attached to the Third Brigade, First division. On June 7th 1861, they were in Greenville on the way to Williamsport to guard the Potomac River. On July 6th, they joined the Brigade at Martinsburg, West Virginia, and on July 17th they participated in a flank movement toward Charlestown. On July 20th, they were at Keys Ford. They returned to Harrisburg by way of Hagerstown and were mustered out on July 29, 1861. During his time with the 8th Regiment Benjamin was wounded in the lower jaw at Petersburg, Virginia and taken prisoner.
On May 5th 1864 Benjamin re-enlisted in Company K, 187th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. Benjamin's brother Edwin also enlisted in the same Company and Regiment. On May 18th 1864 they moved to Washington, D.C., and on May 26t h they joined the Army of the Potomac and reported to Cold Harbour, Viginia June 6th. They were then involved in the following, Cold Harbour June 6-12, Petersburg June 16-18, the Siege of Petersburg June 16 to September 22. Attached to 1st Brig ade, 1st Division, 5th Army Corps. Jerusalem Plank Road , Weldon Railroad, June 21-23. Mine Explosion, Petersburg, July 30 (Reserve). Weldon Railroad August 18-21. Relieved September 22 and ordered to Philadelphia. Garrison and escort duty at Camp Cadwalader, Philadelphia, Pa., and provost duty at other points in Pennsylvania till August, 1865. Guard of honor over remains of President Lincoln in Independence Hall, Philadelphia, and escort to funeral cortege May, 1865. Mustered out August 3, 1865.

The Regiment lost during service, 66 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 1 Officer and 69 Enlisted men by disease. Total 136.4 In 1880 Benjamin was a carpenter in Millvale, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, United StatesO. He lived in Millvale, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, United StatesO, in 1880.2
